Running coachHealthy Running Certified Coach, USATF Level 1, CAMTC Certified Massage Therapist

I haven't always been a runner, but sport has been a big part of my life since elementary school. In my teens, I did track and field - specializing in sprints - but it wasn't my main sport. For more than 20 years, I played basketball from Finnish juniors' National League to regional level in the UK, also getting an early taste of coaching at a children's basketball after-school program and track summer camps. I also played tennis and field hockey for a while, and enjoy trying new sports - whether it's rock climbing or pickleball.

I worked as a copywriter and editor for more than a decade, but re-trained as a sports massage therapist, qualified in 2008 and set up my own practice. I work with chronic pain as well as sports injuries, and love being able to help people get better and feel better!

I got back into running only in my early 30s, but trained pretty seriously from the start; I read, I ran, I researched, and enjoyed challenging myself with goal after goal. I trained on my own but also with a hugely inspirational group of other women and our passionate coach. She inspired me to get into coaching myself, and in 2015, I qualified as a UK Athletics Run Leader and joined her coaching team. I followed that up with Healthy Running and USATF coaching certifications when our family relocated to the US.

I now get to combine a decade's experience in sports massage with my love of running - I feel very lucky to be able to do something I'm so passionate about, helping people get healthy, out of pain and reach their running goals!

You'll find me at races from 5K to a full marathon, on the road as well as trails - occasionally crawling through mud or climbing over obstacles! I also work with Bay Area running specialists A Runner's Mind, coaching their Training For Success program in Lafayette, CA.
